My boyfriend and I had a fantastic meal at Sabor week. I always worry about service having been a waitress myself which has made me rather critical. However, the service was perfect, both friendly and well timed allowing us to relax and enjoy our evening without feeling ignored. My boyfriend has the chorizo which was delicious and I had the empanadas, for the main course I had a moqueca, a brazilian seafood stew and he steak. Both were fantastic, well flavoured and perfectly cooked. Really loved the potatoes in particular which were really spicy.I think dessert really finished us both off but the selection of little sample deserts I had was fantastic, I was so full I could barely walk home but it really was worth it.
Just arrived home after a night at Sabor. What a place! I was recommended to go here by a friend who lives locally and I was really impressed. Great staff, (clearly well trained as they were knowledgeable and friendly), top quality food and wine at good prices and a stunning Latin Place with great music. I will be back asap!
10 days ago my boyfriend and I dined at Sabor where the chef very rudely after waiting an hour and a half for food asked us to leave whilst accusing us of emotionally blackmailing the staff. We have previously dined at Sabor and enjoyed our experience however this experience was the worst I have ever encountered. After waiting 40 minutes both of the entrees we ordered were wrong. When I requested the entree I ordered I was advised it was available but there was no excuse or apology for the incorrect meal that was served. They took away the wrong entree, which I did say was overly spicy and returned to tell me that the entree I ordered was spicy therefore I would not want it. I requested the return of the entree that I had been served and was told it was in the bin. We then waited another half an hour for our mains. Fellow diners also began complaining about the length of time they had waited, we were now well over an hour and a quarter. I requested that the waitress check our meal, she said it was coming - it wasnt. I then advised the waitress that if ours was not next we were going to leave, pay for our drinks but leave. The chef then cam up to the table yelled at us and told us to leave for emotionally blackmailing the staff. I approached the chef to discuss his behavior to explain that waiting an hour and a half is simply unacceptable and that as a customer, let alone a returning customer this is not the way to be treated, this and was met without the courtesy of eye contact. I have subsequently spoken to a number of our friends about this experience all of whom are shocked at the behaviour of the chef. As a local resident it is so disappointing that we cannot support local venues but if the service and treatment continues i imagine that this restaurant will no longer be in existence.
Sabor is one of the nicest restaurants I've eaten at in Angel. The entire experience was lovely and opened with fresh and warm bread - always a great start. I went on a Friday night without booking at the last moment with 2 other girls and were immediately welcomed. The staff stayed charmingly attentive and bright throughout the meal and deserved the large tip they were rewarded with at the end. I love it when you can look at a menu and have so much trouble choosing something because everything sounds so delicious - a rare occurance indeed! I ordered the corn pancakes and they were as delish as the menu described. I had the sea bass for main - it was tasty but the sauces took away from the flavour of the fish - this could be dialled down a notch. My two companions had the chicken which they said was divine. The wines are reasonable and even the bathrooms were lovely (the handwash smelt amazing!) By the time 11pm rolled around the place was full. Even though we were there for hours, we were made to feel comfortable for the entire experience - a refreshing change from other restaurants in the area which adopt more of a churn and burn mentality. We had a lovely evening and will certainly return for more in the not too distant future.
