There is no question that Viet Garden is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in London. Glamourous and palatial it is not, but what counts - the food - is utterly divine. This place is a regular haunt for me and my work colleagues, we usually collect take away at least once a week, but also do the full sit down thing whenever we can come up with a reasonable excuse. The menu is vast but that doesn't seem to affect the quality of the food. Just about everything I have tried has been a revelation and quite different to your standard high street oriental eatery. Everything on the menu is explained so you know what you are getting, which is quite handy if you are not a connoisseur of this cuisine. Definintely worth giving the recommendations a shot. I swear by Bun Hue - a hot and spicy soup, which on occaision has been know to make my eyes water. Also delectable is the hot and sour soup (try it with bong lau fish -so much better than the Chinese takeaway)salted squid, drunken fish, and Viet Garden style prawns. The food is reasonably priced, certainly not dirt cheap, but not so expensive to be prohibitive. And the staff are keen to explain their menu and make recommendations. I will most certainly continue to hot foot it there whenever I can.
We've just been to the Viet Garden this evening and it was superb. Truely authentic Vietnamese food, excellent quality, generous portions, helpful staff. We booked for 7pm and by 7:30 it was pretty full, so booking advisable on a Saturday night. The red chillies were mightily hot.We will definately be going back soon.

I've been to this restaurant for a year and it's seriously FANTASTIC!!! The staffs are nice and friendly, so is the price. The food is AMAZING!! I just love the chicken in tamarind sauce. It's just... beatiful. I love it! I've been to loads of Vietnamese restaurants and this is the best so far. I myself am Vietnamese and I know exactly how the food should taste like. Their sauces are really nice. I tried so many times to make the fish sauce but it always turned out disgusting. There's something unique about their fish sauce. I wonder what it is that make me scoop every last drop of it eveytime I have Bun Xa (i'm drooling here already just thinking about it). Gosh! It's just... BUFF!!! Believe me, it's the best Viet restaurant that I've known so far.
We passed this restaurant and just decided to go in and have lunch. The food is amazing - we have been back twice in a week and will go back with friends this Friday again. It's the best Vietnamese food I have ever had.
