I loved it, big time! A girlfriend dragged my here, telling me that Bourne & Hollingsworth was a cool kitsch crazy place. The bar is a little hard to find as its at the junction of Percy St and Rathbone St, but its worth it and this place generates a great atmosphere and serves fab cocktails too. The bar is small and you almost feel as if your hanging gout in your granny's living room but beware when we were there everyone was dancing by 10pm!
I came here years ago back then it was a twee little place, now its been spruced up and pushed into the 21st century. Now the walls are purple and it looks like the owner has tried just a little too hard to be rustic and cool all at once. Antlers with fedoras is too much.
That said The Hillgate is nice place to have a drink, the menu had no surprises at all when I looked at it, very gastro pub but I'm guessing that the food here is as nice as the ambience. I'll be back to sample the food on another occasion.
Dinner at Dolada last week was the first time for months I had dinned out in Mayfair. I opted for the Hazelnut smoked beef was pretty much perfect. I like my beef medium rare and that is what I got, meat with a beautiful red -pink centre. My date opted for the Marsala-steamed lobster and French truffle, which he raved over for the rest of theevening.. I The service was sublime and the restaurnant has a wow factor. If im not paying, I will be back, very soon.... hint hint.
